You may celebrate the new year with parties and badly kept resolutions, but in Japan, it’s Fukubukuro time! Fukubukuro, a combination of ‘fuku’ (luck) and ‘fukuro’ (bag), are commonly referred to as lucky bags and usually appear in Japanese stores from 1st January. Shops gather unsold items from he past season and gather them in sealed blind bag for people to purchase at a significant discount! Apple’s Applestore, Starbucks, Pokemon, Ghilbi and even Ikea have all produced incredibly popular fukubukuro that sell out in minutes! So start the year with a bargain and grab a fukubukuro! Of course you don’t know what’s inside, and that’s half the fun! Today I’ve purchased three different fukubukuro, so let’s take a look at my unboxing! I even find a Pokemon!

I can’t wait for the next fukubukuro 2021 / 福袋 2021 !
