I love it when the marketing fluff meets my expectations. The new Core Lens Set is definitely better!

The Olloclip Core Lens Set is the first iPhone 7 camera accessory that I’ve come across and using the new Core Lens Set has been refreshing. Mostly because this is my third set of Olloclip Lenses and I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t find the quality of the lenses great on the iPhone 6. That isn’t the case for the Core Lens Set.
So in the next few minutes, I’m going to show you a bunch of photos that I’ve taken between the iPhone 6 Olloclip and the iPhone 7 set as well as a comparison of the new lens set with the current king of iPhone lenses, the Moment Lens. Also, Olloclip has made the New Core Lens set way more user friendly. And you’ll also figure out if it works with the iPhone 7 plus’s camera. If you’re wondering what other lenses I’ve reviewed, find that info on my website as I’ve got reviews for Ztylus, Moment as well as HitCase.
At MobileReviewsEh, we base everything we on actual usage. And when a company says that they have new Improved anything, we usually take it with a grain of salt. Why? Because of marketing fluff. Companies have gotten really good at convincing us, normal people, to buy very mediocre products. But that’s not the case for the new Olloclip lenses.
Olloclip has kept the general idea of the lenses the same. Basically, you slide the lenses over your iPhone 7’s camera. That’s what they did for the iPhone 6 lenses as well as the iPhone 5 lenses. However, unlike the previous generations, the Olloclip has added three things that stand out in my mind. These three things turn the Olloclip from a vacation accessory to an everyday accessory.
First off all, the Core Lens works with screen protectors. This was probably my biggest gripe with the previous versions as you couldn’t fit anything between the iPhone and lenses. You basically had to strip your iPhone bare in order to use the iPhone 6 or 5 lenses. Not with the iPhone 7 version. And yes, the iPhone you’re looking at also has a D Brand skin on it.
Second of all, the lenses now are removable so if you really only want to use one, you can. This makes the iPhone easier to handle. For me personally, I would stick with only the wide angle lens on a day to day basis.
The last feature that impressed me was the lens holder. The iPhone 6 had a nice lens holder for you to secure your lenses when you weren’t using them but it was just a piece of plastic. The Core Lens holder actually turns into a stand. It isn’t much but it will keep you iPhone still for those time-lapse shots.
Out of the three, the compatibility with screen protectors and skins is a big win for us, the consumers. So if you know somebody who has complained about the previous versions of the Olloclip lens or know of somebody that’s looking to get a set, share this video with them!
Onto the lenses. The Core Lens set has a fisheye lens, a super-wide lens and a 15x macro lens. The iPhone 6 version had four lenses with the fourth being a 10x macro lens under the super-wide lens. Not a big loss in my opinion. Like previous versions, getting to the 15x macro lens requires you to unscrew the fisheye lens.
When it comes to using the lenses with the iPhone 7 Plus, the normal wide lenses doesn’t allow you to use the two camera system as the telephoto lens get’s blacked out but it works with the fisheye and macro lenses. This isn’t terribly useful in my opinion.
For the Olloclip Core Lens quality, I have to say that the differences are quite noticeable. The edges of each photograph used in our comparison in the video are much cleaner on the new lens when compared to the old Olloclips.
